Dating back to 1888, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) is the creative heart of the University of Dundee. World-renowned for our high-quality teaching and research in art and design and the application of our creative expertise in interdisciplinary contexts, DJCAD has helped to launch the careers of some of the finest artists, designers, and architects, across the globe.ÌýÌý

DJCAD has a long history of working in partnership with industry, civic and cultural partners to enhance its educational offer and to transform Dundee into a vibrant city. It also houses the Cooper Gallery, a member of the prestigious Plus Tate gallery network, which opened in 1956 as the first gallery dedicated to contemporary art in Dundee.Ìý

The academic portfolio of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design includes undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research degree programmes in Architecture & Urban Planning, Contemporary Art Practice, Communication Design, Design & Making. A number of interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes and our research also encompasses art, science and technology programmes delivered in collaboration with the other Schools of the University of Dundee, including the Schools of Life Sciences, Medicine, Science & Engineering, Humanities, Social Sciences & Law.ÌýÌý

Our world leading and internationally excellent research in Art & Design contributes to the creative and cultural industries, and much more widely, and is focussed on four thematic areas: The Centre for Design Exploration; the Centre for Creative Engagement with Environment; Secure Digital Futures; and Centre for Practice Research.ÌýÌý

DJCAD connects researchers and practitioners making prototypes and provocations, mediating across interdisciplinary fields, professions and publics, including Sustainable Design, Materials & Innovation; Disability, Design and Culture (Studio Ordinary); Design for Health; Design for Services; Design for Business; Creative Economies; V&A Dundee research partnership and more.Ìý

The City of Dundee is the first and only UNESCO City of Design in the UK, recognised for the rich design heritage, thriving contemporary design sector, and a city committed to using design to solve problems and make the city a better place to live where innovations include pharmaceuticals, biomedical research, comics, publishing, marmalade, video games such as Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings, textiles, architecture, contemporary art, maritime engineering, forensic science, and much more.Ìý

Grant amount

£3,000 per month

This funding is intended as a contribution towards US-UK travel, institutional fees, accommodation, and general maintenance costs while in the UK.

$1500 stipendÌý

Dependent BenefitsÌý

Scholars accompanied by eligible dependents for the full duration of the programme may receive a one-time dependent allowance of $1800 for one dependent or $2500 for two or more dependents. This will be calculated on a pro-rata basis for any Scholars on a grant for less than 6 months.Ìý
