Queen's University Belfast Irish Literature

 

The ÈÕº«¾«Æ· Queen's University Belfast Award in Irish Literature covers a six-month appointment to research, lecture and teach in Anglophone Irish literature.

The Scholar will assist in teaching one undergraduate modern Irish literature class, as part of the BA English programme, as well as lead one graduate seminar group in the Scholar's field of expertise and interest on one of the School of Arts, English and Languages postgraduate taught programmes.

The Scholar would also be expected to offer research seminars on his or her published work, or work in progress, participate in events sponsored by the and/or the Institute of Irish Studies as appropriate, and more generally support the ongoing work of the and Languages by engaging in discussion, interaction, collaboration and research.

The appointment will start in January 2026.

Grant amount

£3,000 per monthÌý

This funding is intended as a contribution towards US-UK travel, institutional fees, accommodation, and general maintenance costs while in the UK.

Faculty accommodation may be available for free or for a reasonable rental rate; candidates should inquire well in advance of arrival.

Dependent BenefitsÌý

Scholars accompanied by eligible dependents for the full duration of the programme may receive a one-time dependent allowance of $1800 for one dependent or $2500 for two or more dependents. This will be calculated on a pro-rata basis for any Scholars on a grant for less than 6 months.Ìý
